About the role

The Group Fitness Instructor leads safe, effective, and motivating group fitness classes for participants of all levels at Ochsner Health. The role supports the organization’s mission of delivering exceptional care through compassionate, inclusive teamwork.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver cutting‑edge group fitness classes, ensuring safety and motivation for beginners to advanced exercisers.
  • Maintain certifications for the specific class taught and perform class maintenance or substitution as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service, monitor participants, and encourage positive self‑esteem throughout each session.

Required profile

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Applicable certification for the specific group fitness class taught.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.

Required skills

  • Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Ability to use Windows‑style applications and keyboard efficiently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
