Ground Truth Organizer – Iowa

About the role

Swing Left’s Ground Truth program seeks an organizer in Iowa to lead volunteer‑driven canvassing and phone‑banking efforts that target undecided and disengaged voters. The role combines in‑person event leadership with virtual training and ongoing support for volunteer hosts.

Key responsibilities

• Host and lead in‑person canvasses and support volunteer‑run events across the state.
• Recruit, train, and follow up with volunteers through phone calls, emails, and texts.
• Facilitate virtual trainings via Zoom for canvass hosts, phone‑bank teams, and new volunteers.
• Provide one‑on‑one check‑ins with event hosts to ensure confidence and preparedness.
• Assist with event logistics, including venue booking, material coordination, and attendance confirmation.
• Maintain internal tracking tools (Google Sheets, Slack, Asana, EveryAction) for accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to Swing Left’s mission and values.
• Located in Iowa and able to travel regularly using personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed).
• At least one cycle of grassroots volunteer organizing experience in an electoral context.
• Demonstrated experience with voter contact methods such as door‑knocking, high‑traffic canvassing, and phone banking.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a hybrid environment.
• Availability for evenings and weekends to support volunteer engagement.
