Graduate Assistant – Music Department

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Monticello seeks a Graduate Assistant for its Music Department. This 12‑month appointment supports a one‑year master’s degree in jazz studies and provides hands‑on experience in teaching and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ensembles and lead rehearsals.
• Teach music methods courses and applied lessons.
• Assist with curriculum delivery and student mentorship.
• Perform as needed in various ensembles.
• Support additional duties assigned by the Division of Music.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Music degree or at least 18 credit hours in performance, education, or jazz.
• Admission to the Graduate School at UAM or another accredited institution.
• Completion of baccalaureate requirements before enrolling in graduate coursework.
• Demonstrated competency on at least one primary instrument.
