About the role

Nixon Peabody is seeking a motivated associate to join its Government Investigations and White‑Collar Defense Practice in either Boston, MA or Washington, DC. The role involves advising and defending clients facing federal, state, and agency investigations, particularly in life‑sciences matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage government investigations from initial inquiry through grand jury, trial, and appeal stages.
• Draft and respond to civil investigative demands, subpoenas, and other information requests from prosecutors and investigative agencies.
• Conduct detailed legal research and prepare written advocacy on matters such as the False Claims Act, Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and the Anti‑Kickback Statute.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop defense strategies for complex civil fraud and enforcement litigation.
• Maintain client communications and provide strategic counsel throughout investigations.

Required profile

• 2–4 years of relevant experience in government investigations or white‑collar defense.
• Strong writing, analytical, and judgment skills.
• Bar admission in Massachusetts or Washington, DC.
• Excellent academic credentials and a commitment to high‑quality client service.

Required skills

• Experience with False Claims Act matters.
• Familiarity with the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
• Knowledge of the Anti‑Kickback Statute.
• Proven ability to draft persuasive legal documents.
