Gospel Worship Director

About the role

The Gospel Worship Director provides music services to the gospel congregation on a part‑time basis. The role involves leading rehearsals, directing worship services, and overseeing the volunteer choir and praise band.

Key responsibilities

• Attend one 90‑minute rehearsal and one 90‑minute worship service each week, arriving at least 15 minutes early.
• Lead and direct the choir during rehearsals and coordinate schedules with the Gospel Service chaplain.
• Recruit, develop, and manage a volunteer adult choir and/or praise band for Hickam Gospel Worship Services.
• Open, secure, and maintain chapel facilities and equipment, keeping an accurate inventory.
• Provide music for up to two seasonal worship services (e.g., New Year’s Eve Watchnight, African American Heritage Celebration) and up to four special events, each around 60 minutes.
• Comply with copyright licensing procedures for music and lyrics used.

Required profile

• Maintain dress and grooming standards appropriate to a professional worship environment.
• Be present for the entire 90‑minute rehearsal and worship service unless alternative arrangements are approved in advance.
