GNC Engineering Intern

About the role

Join Reflect Orbital as a GNC Engineering Intern and work alongside full‑time team members on the guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) stack for a flying satellite constellation. This 12‑week onsite internship offers hands‑on experience with real avionics and the opportunity to own a technical problem from concept to documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and test components of the GNC stack in simulation and flight software.
• Build tools and test setups, ship completed work, and integrate hardware on a flatsat.
• Investigate open questions such as sensor trades, orbit studies, or uncharacterized failure modes and document findings.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering.
• Ability to work full‑time onsite for a minimum of 12 weeks in Hawthorne, CA.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Fundamentals of orbital mechanics, spacecraft attitude dynamics, control systems, and state estimation.
• Familiarity with ADCS components (star trackers, IMUs, reaction wheels, CMGs, RCS).
• Proficiency in Python, C/C++ or Rust and numerical modeling/simulation.
