Gardening Team Coordinator – Youth Project

About the role

The Gardening Team Coordinator will support the Braddock Youth Project, an AmeriCorps‑affiliated after‑school and summer program that blends academic assistance with work‑readiness training. Based in Braddock, Pennsylvania, the coordinator will lead teen participants in planning, planting, and maintaining community gardens while linking them to broader support services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead youth in planning and maintaining all gardening operations for the BYP.
• Develop and deliver gardening curriculum, workshops, and enrichment activities.
• Supervise approximately 25 teen participants and assist in overseeing 2‑3 AmeriCorps members.
• Coordinate with Braddock and North Braddock boroughs and other land‑use partners.
• Provide feedback and work‑readiness documentation for youth on the Gardening Team and other BYP teams.
• Assist with procurement, transportation, and inventory of program supplies.
• Support youth in accessing support services, obtaining employment documents, and completing homework or test preparation.
• Identify challenges, propose solutions, and help implement them.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience working with youth programs or community gardening.
• Prior AmeriCorps service is highly desired.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and experience managing multiple projects.
