Full‑Time Surgical Technician – Elmwood Orthopedic Hospital

About the role

The Surgical Technician supports the Elmwood Orthopedic Hospital operating rooms by ensuring that all equipment and supplies are ready for procedures, scrubbing in for surgeries, and assisting the RN as needed. This full‑time position contributes to patient safety and the efficient flow of surgical cases.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to the daily schedule.
• Scrub for surgical procedures and assist the RN with intra‑operative tasks.
• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the staff nurse.
• Communicate patient care information to patients, families, and team members.
• Adapt quickly to changes in patient acuity, unit census, and resource availability.

Required profile

• High School diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• No prior experience required; one year of experience in a similar setting is preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call assignments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications for data entry and patient information retrieval.
• Knowledge of sterile and aseptic techniques and proper instrument handling.
• Understanding of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and related technologies.
