Full‑Time Phlebotomist (Level 1)

About the role

The University of Miami Health Laboratories is seeking a full‑time Phlebotomist 1 to draw blood samples, verify patient records, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis in the U‑Tower Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Perform patient phlebotomy following the department’s procedure manual.
• Prioritize hematology and oncology specimens and manage pre‑accession labeling.
• Verify patient identification and answer queries related to test requisitions and specimen requirements.
• Maintain inventory levels, rotate stock, and keep accurate logs.
• Assist supervisors with statistical reporting and generate routine reports.
• Process cancellations, credits, and additions of test procedures while adhering to university policies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomist certification, HIV certification, and BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• Minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
• Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and the university’s core values.

Required skills

• Phlebotomy techniques.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• HIV testing certification.
