Full-Time Night LPN – Acute Medical Stepdown Unit

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide direct patient care, including IV therapy, on the Acute Medical Stepdown Unit at Ochsner's OMC campus. This full‑time night shift position works under the direction of a registered nurse and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, personalized care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform nursing process activities: assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Administer IV therapy and other direct care tasks as authorized by the LPN Act.
• Coordinate and assist ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to ensure a positive patient experience.
• Adapt to rapid changes on the unit and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of practice.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
• Good judgment, time‑management, and interpersonal skills.
