Founding AI Engineer

About the role

This is a founding engineering position at a seed‑stage AI startup building the intelligence layer for the construction industry. You will work hands‑on with state‑of‑the‑art computer vision, large language models and multimodal AI to turn messy blueprints, permits and construction documents into actionable insights. The role is full‑time, in‑office and reports directly to the technical leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Apply state‑of‑the‑art computer vision, large language models and multimodal AI techniques to real‑world construction documents such as blueprints, schedules and specifications.
• Rapidly prototype, iterate and ship end‑to‑end AI models based on user feedback and production data.
• Build and maintain the full intelligence layer, including data pipelines, model training, inference infrastructure and deployment on noisy, heterogeneous inputs.
• Collaborate with product managers and end users to surface high‑impact problems and prioritize work.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering computer‑vision or multimodal AI solutions in production on messy, real‑world data.
• 0‑to‑1 builder mindset with a track record of launching AI systems or core product components from scratch.
• Hands‑on experience with large language models and modern CV/multimodal model tooling.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to handle the full spectrum of startup engineering tasks.
• Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate and authorized to work in the US.

What we offer

• Salary range $120,000 – $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
