Forward Deployed Software Engineer

About the role

Saronic Technologies is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to integrate, deploy, and refine autonomous maritime systems in real‑world environments. You will work hands‑on with software, networking, and sensor stacks to ensure our autonomous service vessels operate reliably during missions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve software for autonomy, networking, and mission execution under maritime conditions.
• Deploy, test, and troubleshoot ASV software in the field, addressing autonomy, perception, and control issues.
• Analyze performance data from missions and use insights to drive software enhancements.
• Integrate new autonomy features, ensuring seamless interaction between software, sensors, and vessel hardware.
• Collaborate directly with operators and end‑users to gather feedback and adapt the system to operational needs.
• Document best practices, deployment procedures, and debugging workflows.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering background with experience in C++, Rust, Python or similar languages.
• Experience in robotics, autonomy, or embedded systems, preferably in maritime, aerospace, or defense domains.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP) and distributed/message‑passing frameworks.
• Hands‑on experience with sensors such as cameras, radar, GPS, and IMUs.
• Proven ability to diagnose and debug complex systems from low‑level networking to high‑level autonomy behavior.
