Float Medical Assistant

About the role

Aoncology is hiring a float Medical Assistant to assist physicians with medical procedures in the office. The role covers phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting and maintenance, and includes a $1,500 bonus. The position is open to working at any AON location and requires occasional overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality control before patient testing, draw blood, run blood work and handle specimens according to laboratory procedures
• Prepare blood or bone marrow slides, send specimens to outside labs and maintain test and quality control logs
• Follow the AON patient ID policy, obtain vital signs and PHQ9 depression screening, and place patients in the exam room
• Receive lab reports and document them in the patient chart or EMR, and document all testing and treatment thoroughly
• Assist physicians with bone marrow, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis and pelvic exams, and schedule outside tests, referrals and admissions
• Maintain supply inventory, troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and perform EKG testing where applicable
• Keep the laboratory compliant with state and federal regulations, protect patient confidentiality and train new employees

Required profile

• High school or GED; state-required certification or license
• One year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office, including venipuncture
• Valid driver's license and a vehicle to travel between clinic locations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-site environment and to work remotely when required

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR software
• Good command of English; second language is an asset

What we offer

• Pay range of $15.83 - $24.37
• $1,500 bonus
