Finishing – Composites Technician

About the role

Saronic Technologies seeks a Finishing – Composites Technician to perform final surface preparation and detailing of marine composite components. You will work hands‑on with composite parts, ensuring they meet strict cosmetic and dimensional standards that support vessel integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Execute surface finishing tasks such as wet lay‑up, filler application, sanding, and gelcoat spraying.
• Mix and apply epoxy‑based fillers, primers, and gelcoat according to process specifications.
• Sand and fair complex contours while maintaining tight tolerances and Class A surface quality.
• Identify and repair defects (pinholes, delamination, voids) using tap tests and repair materials like Partallfilm #10 and patch aide.
• Prepare parts for painting, bonding, or assembly through proper surface treatment and dust‑control management.
• Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, and track time on a tablet.
• Maintain a clean, organized finishing area and collaborate with the quality team to verify visual and dimensional compliance.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in marine composite finishing or similar fabrication.
• U.S. Person (citizen or permanent resident) due to DoD‑related work.
• High attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive fine‑surface work.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
