Manager IV – Materials Project Management

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a senior manager to lead its Materials Project Management function in Austin. The role oversees end‑to‑end planning, sourcing, and inventory control to support semiconductor and display manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage a cross‑functional, fully integrated planning process covering make‑vs‑buy decisions, capacity planning, scheduling, inventory and cost elements.
• Analyze customer demand, sales forecasts and historical usage to create build‑to‑order and build‑to‑forecast production plans.
• Establish best‑practice methods for inventory forecasting, purchasing and material control, and monitor supplier scorecards.
• Coordinate with quality, engineering, machining and assembly teams to ensure 100% on‑time delivery and proactively address schedule issues.
• Manage the department budget, associated costs and resources while representing the materials organization on corporate task‑force teams.

Required profile

• In‑depth understanding of supply‑chain concepts, production scheduling and material cost management.
• Proven ability to lead a homogeneous team, adapt plans to operational challenges and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues.
• Experience managing budgets, resources and supplier relationships in a global manufacturing environment.
