Financial Examiner – State of Georgia

About the role

Under supervision, the Financial Examiner confirms the integrity of financial statements, verifies assets, determines liabilities, and ensures compliance with state laws and regulations by interpreting laws, rules, and regulatory guidance. The role also reviews audit records, transactions, reports, and financial data for regulated financial institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform operations examination duties, including financial statement analysis, earnings, capital, liquidity, asset/liability management, securities classification, Call Report review, internal controls, audit oversight, and policy compliance.
• Inspect operational functions of financial institutions as an operations manager.
• Conduct credit analysis on examinations.
• Maintain knowledge of current trends, attend scheduled training, and apply this knowledge to responsibilities.
• Serve as a spokesperson and liaison for the Department, communicating with institution personnel, officers, directors, and other agencies.
• Perform administrative functions required for examinations and policy compliance.
• Travel to financial institutions and training locations to fulfill job duties.

Required profile

• Undergraduate major in finance, business administration, or a directly related field with at least three accounting/finance courses, one in accounting.
• Residence within District 2 work area and possession of a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, or three years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
