Financial Accountant II

About the role

The Financial Accountant II independently performs moderately complex financial and administrative activities supporting banking operations, deposits, financial processing, and accounts receivable for Texas A&M AgriLife agencies. This role ensures accurate transaction handling and provides high‑quality customer service to internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and process complex deposits and banking transactions for supported AgriLife agencies.
• Assist departments with submission, processing, and resolution of financial transactions through institutional financial systems.
• Prepare and process financial uploads, deposits, reimbursements, payroll‑related entries, and other transactional items; research and resolve discrepancies.
• Review financial documents for accuracy, coding, approvals, and compliance; resolve routine deficiencies and exceptions.
• Research, analyze, and resolve returned payments, ACH activity, credit‑card transactions, unidentified payments, and other banking‑related exceptions.
• Monitor shared communications, service requests, and ticketing activities; resolve assigned financial and customer support issues.
• Ensure compliance with cash‑handling procedures, addressing routine concerns and escalating significant issues.
• Maintain records and documentation while providing knowledgeable support related to financial and banking operations.
• Assist with accounts receivable activities and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
