Field Sales Consultant, Exteriors (Jericho, NY)

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Home Services Sales Consultant (Exteriors) based in Jericho, NY. The consultant sells exterior and interior products and services to customers, mainly by visiting customer homes and attending trade shows. Most of the time is spent travelling and away from a dedicated office.

Key responsibilities

• Visit customers' homes to make sales calls, assess needs, recommend tailored products and negotiate custom price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options, and maintain profitability
• Complete sales contracts and paperwork, and take measurements to ensure orders meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned stores and at industry events such as Home Shows
• Build relationships with store management and associates, educate them on HDIS offerings and raise awareness of HDIS programs
• Attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year of previous related work experience preferred
• Typical reporting line to a Sales Manager; no direct reports

Required skills

• Preferred: prior in-home or virtual sales experience
• Preferred: prior home improvement industry experience
• Preferred: lead generation experience
• Preferred: computer and application skills (email, iPad, apps)

Travel is typically required overnight 5% of the time, with occasional exposure to dust, fumes or odors. For New York residents, the pay range is $40,000 - $100,000.
