Field Engineer / Geologist

About the role

Conetec is seeking a Field Engineer or Geologist to support geotechnical and geophysical site investigations across the Intermountain Western US and beyond. You will operate specialized equipment, collect high‑quality data, and ensure safe, efficient project execution while traveling frequently to remote job sites.

Key responsibilities

• Operate CPTu, VST, drilling rigs, sampling systems and a range of geophysical instruments safely and productively.
• Organize mobilization and demobilization logistics for equipment in hard‑to‑access environments.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance and minor repairs.
• Conduct in‑situ testing, collect soil and rock samples, and acquire geophysical data.
• Compile daily field notes, photos and sample logs and submit them to the Data Team for processing.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication abilities.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on safety and quality.
• Willingness to travel 7‑14 days at a time and work in varied field conditions.

Required skills

• Operation of CPTu equipment.
• Operation of VST and drilling rigs.
• Use of geophysical instruments for field investigations.
• In‑situ testing and soil mechanics knowledge.
• Data acquisition, field documentation and equipment maintenance.
