Facilities Specialist I – Dallas, TX

About the role

The Facilities Specialist I supports the full‑service facility management program at Texas A&M AgriLife Research in Dallas. Working under direct supervision, you will help maintain a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for employees and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
• Monitor heating and cooling systems via the Building Management System (BMS) to ensure proper operation.
• Perform inspections and maintenance of mechanical equipment, utility systems, buildings, and vehicles.
• Operate and maintain landscape machinery, vehicles, and shop tools safely.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment; process work orders through the CMMS.
• Prepare purchase orders for parts, supplies, and equipment.
• Serve as the after‑hours contact for building emergencies and respond promptly on‑site.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
• Minimum two years of related facilities maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 45 days of hire).
• Knowledge of safety procedures in the facilities maintenance industry.
• Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet applications, and audio/visual systems.
