External Communications Marketing Manager

About the role

Sephora is looking for an External Communications Marketing Manager to shape and execute communications strategies that drive awareness, sentiment, and sales for both corporate and retailer initiatives. This hybrid role in New York will work closely with the Director of External Communications and cross‑functional partners to amplify the brand’s reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Director in planning and executing earned‑media tactics for retailer programs.
• Develop media strategies, maintain a calendar, and drive coverage that builds retailer sentiment.
• Coordinate speaking and interview engagements for executives, merchandisers, and brand ambassadors.
• Lead storytelling tools such as the newsroom, LinkedIn Voices, and new Sephora‑led programming.
• Manage day‑to‑day activities of external communications agencies, overseeing press outreach.
• Partner with internal teams to align program focuses, issue‑management responses, and internal communications.
• Prepare cross‑functional reporting and ensure brand representation aligns with Sephora’s values.
• Assist in managing the public relations budget and marketing task list.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in public relations, either in‑house or agency.
• Proven ability to develop and execute media strategies that generate earned coverage.
• Strong project‑management skills with the capacity to handle multiple stakeholder requests.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with a knack for storytelling.
