Experienced Dredge Tugboat Captain (Captain I‑III)

About the role

Curtin Maritime is seeking seasoned Dredge Tugboat Captains (Captain I, II, III) to work directly with the Port Captain, embodying the company’s core values of Innovation, Integrity, and Efficiency. You will be responsible for operating and managing towing vessels on inland, coastal, and ocean projects.

Key responsibilities

• Own assigned vessels, plan and execute voyages, and ensure compliance with the Curtin Standard and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and mentor crew members, conduct performance evaluations, and maintain thorough record‑keeping and audit readiness.
• Manage project logistics, including scheduling, provisioning, and coordination with customers, agents, and shore‑side teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years experience in dredging tugboat operations with strong attention to detail and decision‑making under pressure.
• Physical ability to work on deck, handle lines, lift at least 40 lb, and swim.
• Excellent communication skills for training crew and interacting with stakeholders.

Required skills

• Master of Towing Vessels license (200 GRT Near‑Coastal or 500 GRT Near‑Coastal with TOAR).
• STCW Master certification and Oceans endorsement.
• Proficiency with Vessel Management System (VMS) and tow‑wire, surge‑chain, and rigging operations.
• Anchor handling, ocean towing, and dead‑ship rigging expertise.
