Experienced CNC Machinist

About the role

HMC Gears, founded over 100 years ago, is an international gear manufacturer that uses advanced CNC technology to make gears up to 8 meters in diameter. It is hiring an experienced CNC Machinist for its custom job shop in Princeton, Indiana. The position is permanent and requires candidates to be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to commute to Princeton.

Key responsibilities

• Set up machines and program machine tools, adjusting and reprogramming controls
• Operate large CNC mills and lathes
• Maintain specifications, tolerances and quality requirements while drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing
• Troubleshoot programming and process errors, replace worn tools and sharpen them
• Perform preventative maintenance on assigned machines
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
• Follow work orders, blueprints, engineering plans and orthographic drawings, and interpret GD&T

Required profile

• Associate's degree or higher in CNC machining, or three years of directly related CNC machine work experience
• CNC machining experience
• Ability to read, write and comprehend G and M code
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Mechanically inclined and detail-oriented
• Able to stand or walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in conditions with heat, cold, fumes, noise and metal shavings; protective gear is required
