Executive Sous Chef – Modern Asian Fusion

About the role

Our client, a high‑end modern Asian fusion restaurant in San Francisco, is looking for an experienced Executive Sous Chef to join the culinary leadership team. This hands‑on role will drive the execution of a sophisticated, seafood‑forward menu while mentoring a talented back‑of‑house crew.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day BOH operations, ensuring exceptional food quality, flavor, presentation, consistency, and sanitation.
• Oversee preparation and execution of a premium seafood menu, manage mise en place, production, station readiness, and service flow.
• Train, coach, mentor and develop culinary team members, supporting scheduling, labor, purchasing, inventory and food‑cost controls.
• Collaborate with FOH leadership to deliver a seamless guest experience and assist with recruiting, onboarding and retention of kitchen staff.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Executive Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Senior Sous Chef or similar leadership role in modern Asian, Asian‑fusion or upscale seafood‑focused restaurants.
• Strong culinary fundamentals, refined plating skills and a deep appreciation for premium fish, shellfish and Asian ingredients.
• Proven ability to lead high‑performing BOH teams in a demanding, high‑volume fine‑dining environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication and leadership abilities.
