Executive Director, CMBS Origination – Conduit & SASB

About the role

The Executive Director, CMBS Origination – Conduit & SASB will lead Santander’s commercial mortgage‑backed securities (CMBS) platform, focusing on conduit and SASB transactions. Reporting to senior banking leadership, the role combines personal loan production with coaching responsibilities to expand market share and drive revenue growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the CMBS origination strategy, prioritising conduit deals and selected SASB opportunities.
• Source, structure and originate commercial real‑estate loans across targeted property sectors.
• Build and maintain relationships with borrowers, mortgage bankers, brokers, financial sponsors and institutional investors.
• Deliver consistent loan production while meeting profitability and portfolio targets.
• Provide clients with market insights, financing solutions and execution guidance throughout the transaction lifecycle.
• Collaborate with transaction management and underwriting teams to assess financing structures, pricing and viability.
• Present opportunities to internal credit, investment and pricing committees and negotiate transaction terms.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in commercial real‑estate finance and CMBS origination.
• Proven track record of generating loan volume and revenue in a senior banking role.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with a broad network of real‑estate market participants.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior professionals while influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, with a focus on delivering client‑centric solutions.
