Equipment Engineer Intern - Summer 2027

About the role

NXP is looking for an Equipment Engineer Intern for its Equipment Maintenance organization in Chandler, Arizona, for the summer of 2027. The intern supports technician development, training compliance, preventative maintenance (PM) performance improvement and equipment maintenance program effectiveness, with hands-on exposure to semiconductor equipment maintenance, reliability engineering, calibration management, data analytics, KPI reporting and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with tracking technician certifications and maintaining training records
• Analyze maintenance performance metrics and prepare reports for leadership reviews
• Identify ways to improve PM execution effectiveness and workforce capability
• Maintain pump maintenance documentation, calibration records and related processes to meet site requirements and standards
• Support documentation management, process standardization, audit readiness and calibration tracking
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians and cross-functional partners to improve equipment reliability, documentation accuracy and process consistency

Required profile

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering; Mechanical or Electrical preferred
• Graduation expected around December 2027 and May 2028; must return to school after the internship
• Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic or electromechanical systems
• Effective problem-solving, strong verbal and written communication, and ability to define and document processes

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Experience with equipment repair and maintenance
