About the role
The Department of Natural Resources’ Environmental Protection Division is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to join the Municipal Permitting Unit in Atlanta. The role focuses on reviewing and issuing permits for domestic wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Review permit applications and supporting documentation for public and private wastewater treatment facilities.
- Prepare and issue National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits and State Land Application System (LAS) permits.
- Communicate technical and regulatory requirements to local governments, consulting engineers, and the public.
- Manage multiple permitting projects independently and adapt to shifting priorities.
Required skills
- Knowledge of NPDES permit preparation and compliance.
- Knowledge of State Land Application System (LAS) permit processes.
