Environmental Compliance Specialist – RCRA & Hazardous Waste

About the role

Tysam Tech, LLC is looking for a Hazardous Waste Specialist to serve as the company’s subject‑matter expert on the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and related waste regulations. Based in St. Croix, the role oversees the full waste‑management lifecycle for clients across the US Virgin Islands and the United States, ensuring compliance from waste identification through final documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary RCRA expert for internal teams, field personnel, and client organizations.
• Assess client operations to determine generator status (Very Small, Small, Large) and document regulatory obligations.
• Manage compliance for hazardous, non‑hazardous, universal, used oil, recyclable, electronic, and other regulated waste streams.
• Determine waste codes, accumulation limits, storage times, container management, recordkeeping, training, and emergency preparedness.
• Conduct facility inspections, document findings, and oversee corrective actions.
• Develop and execute waste‑sampling plans, select analytical parameters, and coordinate laboratory analysis.
• Perform internal audits, gap assessments, and support clients during regulatory inspections.
• Monitor regulatory updates and translate requirements into actionable guidance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, with hands‑on knowledge of RCRA and territorial waste regulations.
• Strong understanding of waste characterization, profiling, and inspection processes.
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication abilities.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel up to 25 % of the time.
