Entry Level Background Investigator - Northeast Region

About the role

CACI, a provider of federal background investigations since 2004, is hiring an entry-level background investigator for the Northeast region. The role is full time, regular, and requires a Top Secret clearance to start. It involves conducting comprehensive interviews and reviewing records to establish the background, reputation, character, suitability or qualifications of subjects, resolving material issues in each case, and attending a multiweek virtual training with shadowing and mentorship.

Key responsibilities

• Use technology, electronic tools and multiple systems at once to interview subjects, employers, associates, references and other knowledgeable people, and to review appropriate records.
• Resolve all material issues in a case to establish the subject's background, reputation, character, suitability or qualifications.
• Conduct interviews by Virtual Teleconference (the primary method), phone and in-person meetings.
• Travel up to 10% locally, depending on assignment, and attend temporary duty assignments across the U.S., typically lasting two weeks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or four years of general experience showing progressive responsibility in problem solving, planning and organizing, and effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable T5 investigation determination.
• Strong sense of mission supporting national security initiatives, and impeccable work ethic and integrity.
• Current driver's license, reliable personal vehicle and willingness to travel locally; home office with reliable high-speed internet (a $50 monthly internet stipend is provided).
• Ability to sit, type, stand or walk for long periods, and excellent time management and prioritization skills.

Required skills

• Ability to use multiple technology systems simultaneously while maintaining workflow efficiency.
• Excellent written and oral communication, including presenting clearly and handling sensitive information tactfully.
• Correct English grammar, punctuation and spelling, with succinct, organized written communication.

Nice to have: active Top Secret clearance based on a T5. The position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately; applicants may also be considered for other CACI positions. The pay range is set by the Service Contract Act wage determination, with a minimum hourly wage of $26.07 for federal contractors, depending on contract, location and job classification.
