Credentialed Background Investigator (Midwest Region)

About the role

CACI is hiring a full-time Credentialed Background Investigator for the Midwest region, working remotely from any state. The role is covered by the Service Contract Act, requires a Top Secret clearance to start, and involves up to 10% local travel. The position is contingent on funding and may not be filled immediately.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references and other knowledgeable individuals, and review records to obtain facts.
• Resolve all material issues in a case to establish the background, reputation, character, suitability or qualifications of the subject.
• Interviews use Virtual Teleconference (VTC) as the primary method, along with phone interviews and in-person meetings.
• Complete a one-week intensive virtual, online training program.
• Travel to locations across the U.S. for temporary duty assignments, typically lasting two weeks.
• Gain exposure to various investigation contracts.

Required profile

• Customer credential or the ability to obtain it, based on National Training Standard certification and recent background investigation experience for this customer.
• Bachelor's degree or four years of general experience showing progressive responsibility in problem solving, planning and organizing, and effective oral and written communication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable T5 investigation determination.
• Current driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and home office within reasonable distance of the workload area with reliable high-speed internet (a $50 monthly internet stipend is provided).
• Ability to sit, type, stand or walk for extended periods and excellent time management and prioritization skills.

• Ability to use multiple technology systems simultaneously to keep workflow efficient.
• Excellent written and oral communication, including presenting clearly and handling sensitive information tactfully.
