Engineering Technician V – Electro‑Mechanical

About the role

North Wind Services is seeking an Engineering Technician V to support the Laser Bay Transport and Handling group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The role involves hands‑on installation, maintenance, and repair of electro‑mechanical equipment used in the National Ignition Facility.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, operate, and maintain laser bay transport equipment, semi‑automated transporters and cleanroom canisters.
• Execute setup, recovery, inspection, and preventative maintenance of Amplifier and Beam Transport Line replaceable units.
• Perform mechanical inspections, corrective maintenance, and installation projects following safety codes and LOTO procedures.
• Operate diagnostic test equipment (voltmeter, ohmmeter, current meter, meggers) and use power and hand tools to troubleshoot systems.

Required profile

• A.A. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• Hands‑on experience with facility installation, operations, maintenance, and repair in cleanroom or radiological environments.
• Ability to read detailed drawings, blueprints, and technical procedures.
• Willingness to work overtime, shifts, weekends, and emergency overtime as needed.

Required skills

• Electro‑mechanical assembly and maintenance.
• Laser system handling and robotic transporter operation.
• Use of diagnostic instruments (voltmeter, ohmmeter, current meter, meggers).
• LOTO safety processes and compliance with ES&H regulations.
