Energy Educator – Residential Energy Efficiency

About the role

We are looking for motivated Energy Educators to join our residential energy efficiency program. The role involves providing free basic home energy consultations and installing low‑cost, energy‑saving supplies for residential customers.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to customers’ homes and conduct 35‑55 minute energy consultations, either independently or with a Direct Installer.
• Review reports and marketing collateral, collect data electronically, maintain supply inventory, and report findings to the Project Manager and field coordinators.
• Communicate project goals and present a positive image of project partners.
• Perform walk‑through assessments of lighting, thermostat type, furnace efficiency and condition, and other key systems.
• Educate customers on simple, low‑ or no‑cost conservation measures such as sealing air leaks and changing furnace filters.

Required profile

• Associate degree or skilled‑trades experience.
• Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to pass vehicle screening.
• Pass a criminal background check (no felony convictions) and a standard drug test.
• Training in HVAC, weatherization, or energy‑efficiency principles (preferred).
• Excellent communication, comfort working with diverse urban populations, and strong judgment for safety.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, and reach, and willingness to learn new technology.
