Employee Assistance Program Counselor

About the role

The Employee Assistance Program Counselor provides brief assessments, counseling, referral, and case management services to employees and their household dependents participating in Cleveland Clinic's Caring for Caregivers programs, including the EAP. The role operates on a day/evening rotation, supporting both mandatory and voluntary participants across the Main Campus.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct brief assessments, counseling, and referrals for employees and eligible dependents.
• Manage case monitoring for mandatory participants, including those referred through the drug testing program.
• Provide onsite and virtual support, including critical incident response.
• Offer consultation and training to organizational leaders and staff.
• Document all activities in accordance with professional and departmental standards.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a behavioral science discipline.
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) or Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (LIMFT) in Ohio.
• Five years of experience in EAP or related counseling settings.
• Ability to work day/evening rotations and adjust hours for 24/7 coverage.

Required skills

• Certification as a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) preferred.
• Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) preferred.
