Electronics Product Development Engineer

About the role

Join 3M’s global innovation team as an Electronics Product Development Engineer. You will lead the design of next‑generation electromechanical systems for cable preparation and installation platforms, working closely with cross‑functional experts worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design analog, digital and mixed‑signal circuits, including sensor signal conditioning and data‑acquisition front ends.
• Develop power‑electronics and power‑distribution circuits such as motor‑drive, DC‑DC converters and protection circuitry.
• Integrate embedded processors, microcontrollers, connectivity and industrial I/O (e.g., EtherCAT) into board‑level designs.
• Select electronic components balancing performance, cost, availability and manufacturability.
• Create schematic designs and multilayer PCB layouts for control, power, sensor‑interface and communication boards.
• Ensure electromagnetic compatibility, signal integrity, power integrity and regulatory compliance (CE, UL, FCC).
• Build, bring up and debug prototypes using lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DAQ).
• Produce hardware documentation, BOMs and design records and collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical and systems engineers to scale designs into production.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with hardware development cycles from concept through production.
