Early Childhood Education Assistant

About the role
The Early Childhood Education Assistant supports the museum’s inquiry‑based Early Childhood Education (ECE) program for children ages 3 months to 5 years and their caregivers. Working onsite at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, you will help create engaging, multisensory art experiences that connect young learners to the museum’s collection.
Key responsibilities
- Assist educators in delivering play, music, movement, gallery walks and art‑making activities.
- Prepare and organize materials and spaces for daily sessions.
- Supervise children and ensure a safe, welcoming environment.
- Support caregivers in participating and learning alongside their children.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of program areas.
Required profile
- Highly motivated and action‑oriented.
- Interest in early childhood education and museum learning.
- Ability to work effectively with young children and adult caregivers.
