Early Childhood Development Specialist

About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is seeking an Early Childhood Development Specialist to join the Kids First team in Fort Smith, AR. This position focuses on providing high‑quality, individualized developmental services to young children, especially those with special healthcare needs.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the quality of individualized developmental services delivered by Kids First.
• Support the academic mission of the Kids First program and demonstrate professionalism.
• Administer standardized developmental testing instruments and track progress.
• Build collaborative relationships with children, parents, and multidisciplinary team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with a relevant certificate (Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, Child Development Associate, or Birth‑to‑Pre‑K Credential).
• At least 12 hours of coursework in early childhood, child development, special education, elementary education, or child and family studies.
• Minimum six months documented experience working with children.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Ability to administer standardized developmental testing instruments.
• Knowledge of developmental milestones for birth‑to‑five population.
