DOL Services Specialist – Employment Services

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a DOL Services Specialist to provide employment assistance at the Americus Career Center. This role supports job seekers through counseling, workshops, and connections with local employers, contributing to the state’s mission of improving lives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with job, program or unemployment applicants to gather information and provide services.
• Demonstrate job listings and assist clients with skill‑building and job‑search techniques.
• Develop, conduct, and coordinate workshops and presentations on job readiness and current job‑search methods.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with local employers to create employment opportunities.
• Evaluate applications to determine eligibility for programs and services.
• Provide job counseling to match applicants’ abilities, interests, and values with career opportunities.
• Refer clients to additional services such as counseling, literacy, transportation, or childcare.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of related experience, or an associate’s degree.
• Knowledge of Department of Labor rules and regulations (preferred).
• Experience delivering re‑employment or training services under federally funded programs (preferred).
• Minimum one year of customer‑service experience (preferred).
