About the role
The District HR Manager (DHRM) leads HR initiatives across a district of 6‑12 stores, fostering a customer‑service culture and driving talent, performance, and associate engagement. Reporting to a Regional HR Director, the DHRM partners with district and store leaders to develop a high‑performing workforce aligned with business results and company values.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute talent management, performance management, and associate engagement processes for the district.
- Coach and advise district/regional leaders, store leaders, and Associate Support Department Supervisors (ASDS) on HR matters.
- Oversee succession planning and development of the leadership pipeline.
- Ensure consistent selection, onboarding, and training of salaried managers.
- Drive workforce diversity and coordinate hourly job fairs and hiring partnerships.
- Partner with store managers on ASDS selection and ongoing training.
- Monitor and support salaried and hourly training plans.
- Facilitate performance management, including calibration and timely feedback.
- Provide counsel on terminations, demotions, and employee relations.
- Promote a customer‑service culture through associate coaching on the floor.
- Utilize company recognition and communication tools effectively.
- Conduct store HR Town Hall meetings and follow‑up on action items.
- Support Employer of Choice survey administration and action planning.
- Collaborate with the HR Service Center on staffing and transactional processes.
- Lead organizational change initiatives impacting the district.
- Act as first responder for labor issues, workplace violence, and related events.
- Assist with HR aspects of new store openings, closures, or relocations.
- Participate in store walks, district staff meetings, and other operational activities.
Required profile
- Proven experience in HR leadership, preferably within a multi‑store retail environment.
- Strong coaching and consulting skills for senior and front‑line leaders.
- Ability to travel overnight 20‑50% of the time.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to drive diversity, talent development, and performance excellence.
