Director, Oncology Research Finance

About the role

The Director – Oncology Research Finance leads the end‑to‑end activation of oncology clinical trials, overseeing budgeting, contract execution, regulatory compliance, and system integration. This senior position drives operational efficiency, reduces activation timelines, and builds scalable research infrastructure to support Ochsner Health’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Direct oncology trial activation from feasibility through site activation, establishing performance metrics and dashboards.
• Identify and resolve delays in budgeting, contracting, regulatory review, and system build processes.
• Develop and manage budgets for industry, translational, foundation, and federally funded studies, ensuring alignment with institutional policies.
• Partner with legal and contracts teams to accelerate agreement execution and mitigate enrollment risks.
• Oversee operational use of CTMS, ensure accurate budget entry, and support reporting on activation timelines and financial performance.
• Lead and develop managers and operational leaders within the Oncology Trial Activations team, setting performance expectations and professional development plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 6+ years of clinical research administration experience, with strong emphasis on oncology research operations.
• Proven experience with budgets, contracts, regulatory startup, and CTMS systems.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive process redesign initiatives.
• Experience in financial feasibility analysis and portfolio optimization for sponsored research.
