Director of Tax

About the role

Discovery Land Company is seeking a collaborative and technically skilled Director of Tax to lead its tax function across a complex, multi‑jurisdictional real‑estate portfolio. Reporting to the VP of Accounting & Tax, you will work closely with finance teams and external service providers to ensure compliance and drive strategic tax planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage global and U.S. income tax compliance for C‑Corporations, Partnerships, and Joint Ventures.
• Oversee consolidated tax accounting, reporting packages, and tax disclosures.
• Research and implement new accounting pronouncements relevant to tax accounting.
• Act as primary liaison between internal finance groups and external co‑sourced tax service providers.
• Support tax planning for acquisitions, restructurings, and other strategic projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of tax experience in real estate, construction, or development.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and complex tax issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Experience with multi‑entity structures and international tax matters is a plus.
