Director of Student Support Services and Career Development

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a dynamic leader to oversee Student Support Services and Career Development at Athens Technical College. This senior position guides a broad portfolio of services that enhance student success, from academic support to veteran affairs.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate and promote all student support services—including Academic Support, Career Services, Counseling, Disability, Special Populations, and Veteran Services—to faculty, staff, and students.
• Supervise staff across all support service areas and ensure high‑quality delivery.
• Develop, implement, and monitor annual budgets for each service line.
• Maintain accurate service information on the college website.
• Set annual goals and objectives for each support function.
• Establish and expand a comprehensive career center offering workshops, individual counseling, and alumni services.
• Track graduate placement outcomes and conduct follow‑up activities.
• Coordinate employer recruitment and career placement for students.
• Ensure proper identification and accommodation of students with documented disabilities in the Banner system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five (5) years of management experience in a related student services area.
• Preferred Master’s degree.
• Experience with FERPA, Banner Student Information System, Degree Works, and Microsoft Office.
• Proven ability to work with diverse student populations and collaborate across constituencies.
• Supervisory experience is essential.
