Director of Strategic Finance

About the role

Brain Co. is building AI‑native operating systems for regulated institutions and is entering a rapid growth phase. As the Founding Director of Strategic Finance, you will create and lead the finance function, providing the financial operating picture needed to scale the business and support its $55M Series A funding.

Key responsibilities

• Design and own the company‑wide operating model, including revenue forecasting, headcount planning, expense budgets, and scenario analysis.
• Build and run the FP&A cadence: annual planning, quarterly re‑forecasts, and monthly variance reviews with team leads.
• Manage cash, runway, and burn by overseeing cash forecasts, treasury operations, and capital planning.
• Develop unit economics for enterprise AI deployments, covering contract‑level margins, compute costs, and software vs. services mix.
• Prepare board materials, investor updates, KPI reporting, and lead financial diligence for future fundraises.
• Partner with GTM and leadership on pricing, deal structures, and contract economics for complex enterprise and government deals.
• Oversee outsourced accounting, tax, and compliance providers and mature the monthly close process.
• Stand up financial systems and tooling (planning, billing, expense management) and lay the foundation for a future finance team.

Required profile

• 6+ years of finance experience with deep FP&A or strategic finance expertise.
• Proven ability to build finance functions from the ground up in high‑growth environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and unit‑level economics.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting board‑grade reports and influencing senior leadership.
