Director of Sports Science

About the role

The Director of Sports Science assists the Assistant Athletic Director of Strength and Performance in overseeing the athletic performance and sports science program at The University of Tulsa, ensuring compliance with NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and university regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operations of the sports science department.
• Develop and implement comprehensive strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports.
• Maintain records for all sport teams and oversee sports performance pathways.
• Maintain sports science technology in FA Dry and ACE facilities.
• Collaborate with all sports to monitor student‑athlete progress.
• Maintain up-to-date records on data analytics programs for each assigned team and individual workouts.
• Serve as a positive role model, promoting values such as hard work, discipline, and enthusiasm.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD for Athletic Performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of strength training experience, preferably at the collegiate level.
• Current certification from a nationally accredited strength and conditioning program.
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Strong communication, leadership, and management skills.
• Good knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
