About the role

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) seeks a senior leader to direct all planning, design, and construction activities across its campus. This role ensures that facilities projects align with the university’s mission of education, research, and patient care while meeting budget, schedule, and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of master plans for new and existing facilities.
• Oversee design and construction teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and sustainability requirements.
• Manage project budgets, timelines, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with academic, clinical, and administrative stakeholders to prioritize capital projects.
• Negotiate contracts with architects, engineers, and construction firms.
• Report progress and performance metrics to senior university leadership.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Extensive experience in large‑scale institutional construction projects.
• Proven leadership and team‑building abilities.
• Strong understanding of healthcare facility requirements.
