About the role
The Director of IT Planning and Communication is a senior leader within the Information Technology Services (ITS) department, reporting to the CTO. The role oversees web development, communications support, and project‑management processes across the college.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall direction and oversight for web development, infrastructure, and ITS project intake processes.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop the WebPAC team (three web developers, a communications specialist, and a project manager/analyst).
- Ensure the college website complies with current web standards, including browser compatibility, accessibility guidelines, responsive design, and code validity.
- Translate community needs into web project requirements, implementation plans, and timelines.
- Manage a portfolio of technology‑related projects, prioritising efforts and reporting status regularly.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing Communications on daily operations, software updates, and support for site maintainers.
- Partner with the CTO and VP of Communications to set strategic direction for Carleton’s web presence and toolset.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience in web development and technology project management.
- Ability to mentor and build high‑performing, collaborative teams.
- Strong communication skills for working with diverse campus stakeholders.
- Strategic mindset to align web initiatives with institutional mission.
