Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering leads the engineering and facilities operations for a luxury hotel property, ensuring safety, security, and asset protection while delivering exceptional guest experiences. This senior position oversees the building, grounds, and physical plant, managing budgets, capital projects, and energy‑conservation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the entire physical plant, including HVAC‑R, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, water treatment and fire‑life‑safety systems.
• Develop, monitor and control the engineering budget, capital expenditure projects and long‑term preventative maintenance plans.
• Lead the emergency response team and ensure compliance with all state, local and federal regulations.
• Administer service contracts, supervise construction projects and oversee asset protection plans.
• Control utility consumption (heat, light, power, water) and implement energy‑conservation strategies.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 6 years of engineering/maintenance experience, **or** a 2‑year degree in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, etc., with 4 years of experience.
• Technical training in HVAC‑R, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, capital projects and a large multidisciplinary team.
