Director of Benefits Administration

About the role

RLC is seeking a Director of Benefits Administration to lead the design, compliance, and delivery of its employee benefits, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the role will shape strategic benefit initiatives and ensure alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Administer current benefits and workers’ compensation programs, ensuring accurate processing and compliance.
• Develop tactical and strategic compliance frameworks for local, state, and national regulations.
• Create and maintain legal compliance forms and communicate processes internally and with external vendors.
• Recommend future plan offerings and design changes based on market trends and employee needs.
• Perform financial analyses, cost estimates, and manage the annual benefits budget.
• Manage relationships with all external benefits vendors.
• Oversee FMLA, LOA, and ADA processes in accordance with federal and state guidelines.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school, preferably with a focus on employment or benefits law.
• Admission to practice law in Ohio (or other states).
• Proven ability to lead a human‑resources benefits team and drive strategic communication.
• Superior written and oral communication skills.
• Strong time and project management capabilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and proficiency with a wide range of computer software programs.
