Director of Benefits Administration (Attorney)

About the role

R+L Carriers is seeking an experienced attorney to lead its Benefits Administration function at the corporate headquarters in Wilmington, Ohio. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, you will oversee leave of absence, insurance, and workers’ compensation programs while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws.

Key responsibilities

• Administer current benefits and workers’ compensation programs.
• Develop tactical and strategic compliance processes for local, state, and national regulations.
• Create and maintain legal forms and communicate procedures internally and with external vendors.
• Recommend future plan offerings and design changes.
• Perform financial analyses, cost estimates, and manage the annual benefits budget.
• Manage relationships with all outside benefits vendors.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, and medical/religious accommodations.

Required profile

• J.D. from an accredited law school, preferably with a focus on employment or benefits law.
• Admission to practice law in Ohio (or other states).
• Proven ability to lead a benefits team and drive strategic initiatives.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong time, project, and organizational management abilities.
