Director, Electrical & Firmware Engineering

About the role

Bevi is seeking a Director of Electrical & Firmware Engineering to lead the team that creates the electronics and firmware powering its connected beverage machines. This senior technical and people‑leadership role reports to the VP of Engineering and works closely with Mechanical, Software, Systems, Quality, Manufacturing and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Own the embedded system architecture across products, including multi‑board electrical design, SBC/SoM platforms, microcontroller firmware and interfaces.
• Set the technical roadmap, make trade‑off decisions on reliability, cost and speed, and review schematics, layouts and firmware architecture.
• Lead new product development from concept through production release, including regulatory certification and field sustainment.
• Manage and grow a team of Electrical and Firmware Engineers, handling hiring, coaching and career development.
• Partner with Mechanical, Software, Systems, Quality and Manufacturing to define requirements and ensure design integrity.
• Oversee external design partners, contract manufacturers and component suppliers, ensuring design for manufacturability and production support.
• Establish engineering standards, version control, release management and documentation processes.
• Champion AI‑driven design, code generation, testing and debugging within the embedded team.

Required profile

• BS in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field (MS a plus).
• 10+ years of embedded hardware and firmware experience, with 5+ years leading combined electrical and firmware teams.
• Proven track record taking connected electromechanical products from prototype to high‑volume production and field sustainment.
• Experience with overseas contract manufacturers, DFM/DFT, NPI transfer and PCBA yield management.
• Strong communication skills to influence engineers and executives.

Required skills

• Board‑level electrical design (mixed‑signal, power, motor/actuator drive, sensor interfacing).
• Embedded C/C++ on ARM Cortex‑M microcontrollers, bare‑metal and RTOS.
• Embedded Linux or Android (AOSP) on SBC/SoM platforms.
• Communication protocols: UART, I2C, SPI, USB, CAN, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, LTE, BLE.
• Regulatory certification experience (UL, FCC, CE/UKCA, EMC).
