Director, Applications, DevOps & Engineering

About the role

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is seeking a senior leader to own the full lifecycle of its application portfolio. You will drive delivery velocity, enforce engineering standards, and guide the transition to modern, cloud‑native architectures while supporting mission‑critical SaaS/PaaS services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the roadmap, reliability, upgrades, and end‑of‑life decisions for the department’s application portfolio.
• Accelerate delivery for .NET and Salesforce teams using Agile and DevOps practices in Azure DevOps.
• Define and enforce engineering standards for code quality, security, documentation, and architecture reviews.
• Lead technical design reviews for new systems, integrations, and major enhancements.
• Architect the migration from legacy .NET systems to cloud‑native patterns on Azure.
• Oversee Salesforce platform governance, including org health, technical debt, release cadence, and ISV vendor management.
• Embed AI and automation as production capabilities that deliver measurable value.
• Consolidate integrations through Dell Boomi iPaaS and re‑architect point‑to‑point links into reusable APIs managed via Boomi/Azure API Gateway.
• Automate DocuWare/DocuSign workflows to eliminate manual hand‑offs for legal and compliance documents.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale application portfolios in a government or enterprise environment.
• Strong background in Agile and DevOps methodologies, with a track record of improving delivery velocity.
• Demonstrated ability to set engineering standards and conduct architecture reviews.
• Experience managing cross‑functional teams that include .NET, Salesforce, and cloud engineers.
